Major: Exercise Science

Alberta Yirenkyi’s favorite thing about Union is the friendly and supportive professors and staff who create an encouraging environment. One of her favorite ways to relax is listening to music at the beach, and her dream job is to become an Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist—a path that combines her passion for fitness with her desire to help others regain their strength and confidence after injury or illness.

Her favorite subject in high school was Religious and Moral Education, and she looks up to soccer icon Alexia Putellas. Alberta’s favorite drink is fruit juice, and on road trips, you’ll likely catch her snacking on Pringles. Her go-to meals include Akple with Okro soup—a traditional Ghanaian dish—and quesadillas. Her favorite social media platform is Instagram.

As a teammate, Alberta considers herself hardworking and positive. She celebrates others’ successes, encourages through challenges, and values team unity above all. She’s the kind of player who checks in, lifts others up, and puts the team's needs before her own.

She wants to be remembered as the kind of athlete who always put the team’s needs first and improved the lives of people around her. Not only for her work, but also for her attitude, leadership, and the way she respected, supported, and believed in her teammates. Alberta remained dedicated and focused whether winning or losing, and hopes to be known as someone who inspired the team, contributed energy, and set an example on and off the field.

Something interesting about her: she doesn’t give up easily—she doesn’t stop when she’s tired, she stops when she’s done. People who have made a positive impact on her at Union include Stephanie Smith and Dr. Cosmina Noaghea.

Her second-best sports are tennis and pickleball.
