The Bulldogs fall in four sets against Johnson

Knoxville, Tenn. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team played at Johnson on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs fell short 3-1 (16-25, 25-12, 25-16, 25-21).

Raquel Kessler led all players in kills with 15, while Berkli Benefield recorded nine. Emily Shumaker, Katherine Acosta, and Luisa Slompo each tallied five kills.

Maddy McGaughey led all players in assists with 20, while Sarah Charkosky recorded eight and Yanelis Turbi accounted for four.

Nicole Almestica tallied 24 digs, which led all players. Kessler tallied 12 digs, while Maddy McGaughey accounted for 11. Lara Gomes De Castro recorded 10 digs, while Emily Shumaker totaled eight.

Kessler registered five total blocks, which was tied for the most by any player. Berkli Benefield tallied three total blocks.

The Bulldogs are now 14-17 (12-9 AAC) this season, while Johnson is 27-6 (16-5 AAC). The AAC Tournament is up next for UCU.
