Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team fell short 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) against Milligan on Saturday.
Prior to the game, the Bulldogs recognized former Union head volleyball coach Joanie Albury, who was Union's head coach when the program was established in 1992.
Union's Emily Shumaker and Raquel Kessler each tallied 10 kills. They were two of four players that were tied for the most kills in the match.
Sarah Charkosky led UCU in assists with 15, while Maddy McGaughey registered 12. Kessler led the Bulldogs in digs with 13, while Maddy McGaughey totaled 12.
Lain Prather registered 10 digs, while Sarah Charkosky tallied nine and Shumaker recorded eight. Lara Gomes De Castro recorded seven digs.
The Bulldogs are now 3-8 (1-1 AAC) this season, while Milligan is 5-5 (1-1 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Kentucky Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m.
