The Bulldogs fall at Brenau

Gainesville, Ga. – The Union College volleyball team played Brenau on Friday, Oct. 27. The Bulldogs fell short in three sets.

The opening set was very competitive as the Bulldogs led on multiple occasions. Union only trailed 18-16 towards the end of the set. The Bulldogs went on a 5-0 run later in the set, but Brenau won it 25-22.

The Bulldogs tallied an impressive 21 kills in the second set, which included 13 of Union's first 14 points. Four of the Bulldogs' first seven points in the set occurred via a kill by Lauren Horn. It was a long set as the Golden Tigers won it 29-27. The Golden Tigers took the third set to win the game 3-0 (25-22, 29-27, 25-17).

Raquel Kessler led Union in kills with 12, while Emily Shumaker tallied nine. Nicole Almestica registered 14 digs, which led all players. Maddy McGaughey led the team in assists with 21, while Sarah Charkosky tallied nine. McGaughey was tied with Brenau's Nathalia Quintero for the most assists in the matchup.
