The Bulldogs fall at Bryan

Dayton, Tenn. – The Union College volleyball team played at Bryan on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The Bulldogs fell short in three sets.

Union recorded nine kills in the opening set, but Bryan recorded 14 en route to a 25-19 win in the first set. Bryan got out to a 14-7 lead in the second set. Union won the next two points, but Bryan won the set 25-17.

Bryan got out to a 10-5 lead in the third set. Union countered by winning four of the next five points, which included three kills for the Bulldogs. The score at that point was 11-9 in favor of Bryan.

The Lady Lions responded by going on a 4-1 run en route to a 25-18 win of the third set. Bryan won the game 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-18).

The Bulldogs recorded 27 kills as senior Raquel Kessler led the team with 11. Union's Nicole Almestica tallied a team-leading 13 digs. Maddy McGaughey and Abigail Erby combined to total 23 assists.

Following the game, Union was 6-12 (6-5 AAC), while Bryan was 12-8 (9-3 AAC). Union will host Milligan in the Bulldogs' next matchup, which is slated for Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
