Union volleyball falls short at CIU

Columbia, SC. – The Union College volleyball team played at Columbia International on Friday. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' second away game in conference play. Union entered today's matchup off a 3-0 victory over Kentucky Christian on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs were faced with a tough task on Friday as CIU entered the matchup with an undefeated record. Union fell short in three sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-9).

Union registered 18 kills in the matchup as Raquel Kessler led the team with eight. Lara Gomes De Castro led the team in service aces with three. Gomes De Castro, Maddy McGaughey, and Nicole Almestica combined to record 21 of the Bulldogs' 29 digs.

The Bulldogs are now 2-10 (2-2 AAC) this season, while Columbia International is 13-0 (4-0 AAC). Up next for Union is a game against Columbia on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 1:00 p.m.
