
Union women’s track and field competes in Gordon Bocock Cumberlands Invitational and Distance Carnival
Williamsburg, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University women's track and field team competed in the Gordon Bocock Cumberlands Invitational and Distance Carnival on Friday and Saturday.
Friday Events:
Morgan Blakley competed in the 5000-meter race walk. She placed seventh with a time of 33:59.34. With this time, she has shattered her school record that she set in 2021.
Her previous record was 40:24.65. Blakley also placed 12th with a mark of 18.38m in the Javelin Throw.
In the first event of the heptathlon, Erin Pease placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.65. The second event was the high jump where she placed third with a mark of 1.26m.
She placed third in the shot put with a mark of 8.55m. In the 200-meter dash, Pease placed second with a time of 27.87.
Saturday Events:
Melanie Partin placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07.52. She also competed in the 200-meter dash where she recorded a time of 28.79. She finished in ninth place.
Pease collected first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.19. Pease then continued her heptathlon. In the fifth event, the long jump, she placed third with a mark of 4.58m.
Pease collected a first-place finish in the sixth event, the javelin throw. She had a mark of 27.78m. In the 800-meter run, she recorded a time of 2:52.37 to put her in third place. Pease placed third in the heptathlon overall with a mark of 3404.
