Union women’s track and field places fourth in Cumberlands Early Spring Meet

Williamsburg, Ky. -  The Union College women's track and field team kicked off its outdoor season in the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet on Friday.

The Bulldogs placed fourth out of five teams with a total of 16 points. Union's highest finish in the event was second place.

Erin Pease led Union in scoring with 11 points, while Melanie Partin contributed five. Pease took second in the long jump with a mark of 4.61m to earn eight points.

Pease placed sixth in javelin with a mark of 23.08m for three points. She placed 12th in shot put with a mark of 8.41m. Partin secured fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:08.99 to add four points.

Pease and Partin finished 12th and 13th in the 200m dash with times of 29.10 and 29.73 respectively.

"The ladies PR'd in all their events," head coach Chris Jelks said. "I am very pleased."

Up next for the Bulldogs is the Mountaineer Open on Saturday, March 23.
