The Bulldogs fall short 5-2 at EKU
Richmond, Ky. – The Union College women's tennis team began the 2024 season on Friday, Feb. 2, with a matchup at Division I opponent Eastern Kentucky. The Bulldogs won two singles matches, but EKU picked up a 5-2 win.
Doubles:
Zhansaya Bakytzhan and Masha Fedenko defeated Liliana Drukerova and Magdalena Skachova (Union) 6-1.
Sasha Parkhomenko and Emmeline Polevoi defeated Laia Garriga Oms and Beatriz Verdial (Union) 6-4.
Marilou Cote and Izem Elif Olcer defeated Anastasiia Iakovlieva and Anna Nevada Loendahl Henriksen (Union) 6-1.
Singles:
Liliana Drukerova (Union) defeated Marilou Cote 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 10-8.
Sasha Parkhomenko defeated Beatriz Verdial (Union) 6-3, 6-2.
Emmeline Polevoi defeated Magdalena Skachova (Union) 5-7, 6-2, 6-0.
Anastasiia Iakovlieva (Union) defeated Zhansaya Bakytzhan 6-3, 6-4.
Izem Elif Olcer defeated Laia Garriga Oms (Union) 6-1, 6-0.
Mariia Triska defeated Anna Nevada Loendahl Henriksen (Union) 8-5.
The Bulldogs are now 0-1 on the season, while EKU is 3-3. Up next for Union is a road conference game against Truett McConnell on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1:00 p.m.
