Union defeats SCAD Atlanta in AAC semifinals
Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Union College women's tennis team has advanced to the finals of the AAC Tournament.
The No. 2 seeded Bulldogs defeated No. 3 SCAD Atlanta 4-0 in the semifinals on Friday. Union won the doubles point 2-1, and was victorious in the top three singles matches to earn the win.
Singles:
Karen Kondo (Union) defeated Aarushi Kakkar 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Liliana Drukerova (Union) defeated Hanna Blinouskaya 6-1, 6-3.
Rin Igarashi (Union) defeated Nadia Brunzlow 6-3, 6-0.
Nicole Viljoen (Union) vs. Begona Benjumeda (7-5, 5-6, DNF).
Mai Kitashita (Union) vs. Mariana Arguedas (4-5 DNF).
Anastasiia Iakovlieva (Union) vs. Brissa Mendoza (5-1 DNF).
Doubles:
Elizabeth Allen & Begona Benjumeda defeated Karen Kondo & Rin Igarashi (Union) 6-2.
Maria Arteaga & Anastasiia Iakovlieva (Union) defeated Aarushi Kakkar & Mariana Arguedas 6-2.
Nicole Viljoen & Liliana Drukerova (Union) defeated Hannah Blinouskaya & Nadia Brunzlow 7-5.
Union is now 15-1 (9-1 AAC) this season. On Saturday at 2:00 p.m., Union will face No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan in the finals. Wesleyan defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 in the regular season.
