Union freshman Emma Phillips receives multiple NAIA All-American honors
Barbourville, Ky, - Union College women's swimming and diving freshman Emma Phillips recently collected multiple NAIA All-American honors after her performance at the NAIA National Championship.
At nationals, placing within the top-8 in any event earns athletes the esteemed All-American honor. Emma's outstanding performance across all of her events resulted in her receiving three NAIA All-American honors.
Her standout achievement came in the 400 IM where she clinched a fourth-place finish. Following this, she secured a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM and a seventh-place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke event.
Union head swim coach Ryan Winders shared these sentiments:
"Emma was absolutely incredible this weekend. She was focused from the very beginning of the meet. She went out and accomplished the goals she set for herself and really made a statement about Union and what we are doing with our program. It has been a while since we have had an All-American here, so to have three honors in one year is outstanding. I'm excited for what the future has in store for her."
