The Bulldogs earn 10 first-place finishes against Piedmont

Union women's swimming and diving hosted Piedmont University on Monday. The Bulldogs finished in second place with a total score of 108. The team's performance featured 10 first-place finishes and the noteworthy accomplishment of breaking one school record.

In the first event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay team of Lise Puissant, Emma Phillips, Dorottya Jozsa, and Ceci Gimenez clinched the top spot with a final time of 1:55.69. This same group also exhibited their prowess in the 200-yard freestyle relay as they claimed a first-place finish with a time of 1:45.62.

Following this success, Jozsa secured first place in the 100-yard IM, while simultaneously setting a new school record with a remarkable time of 1:05.06. Notably, this record eclipsed the previous mark set by Maggie Heinrich in 2023 at 1:14.22.

Jozsa not only shattered a record, but also achieved an NAIA B qualifying time in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.56.

Martinez, Puissant, and Phillips continued their stellar performance by clinching first place in two more events each. Notably, Phillips achieved an NAIA B qualifying time of 1:09.88 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Up next for Union is a meet at Centre in Danville, Ky., on Saturday, Jan. 13.
