Johnson tops women's soccer 1-0

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Emily Colwick scored off a corner kick in the 24th minute, providing Johnson (Tenn.) with all the offense it would need in a 1-0 win over Union in Appalachian Athletic Conference women's soccer play Wednesday.

The Bulldogs had multiple chances to tie the score in the second half, none better than when Brooke Miller got a clean look off a corner kick with just under five minutes to play. Miller's shot did get past Royals goalie Courtney Daniels, but sailed left of the goal, and the Bulldogs wouldn't get another clean look.

Wednesday was Union's fourth-consecutive game to end 1-0. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs are just 1-3 in such games.

Union, now 2-11 overall, 2-8 in the AAC, is at Truett McConnell (Ga.) Saturday at 1 p.m.
