Women's soccer drops 1-0 final at St. Andrews

LAURINGBURG, N.C. - Despite a third consecutive strong effort from the defense, the Union women's soccer team couldn't get an offensive effort to match, falling 1-0 on the road to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe St. Andrews Friday afternoon.

Ashleigh Bennett scored what proved to be the only goal of the game less than one minute into the second half, sneaking a shot past Union goalie Madison Hebert, who finished with 10 saves. In her last three outings, Hebert has recorded 25 saves and a .926 save percentage.

After registering just one shot in the first half, Union's offense was more active during a seven-shot second half. Unfortunately, none of those attempts found their way into the net.

The Bulldogs fall to 2-9 on the season with a 2-7 mark in the AAC. They host Johnson (Tenn.) at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
