Wesleyan too much for women's soccer

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Krista Eik Hardardottir scored three goals and Tennessee Wesleyan proved too much for Union, earning a 4-0 win in Appalachian Athletic Conference women's soccer Wednesday night.

There wasn't much offense on either side until Wesleyan got a breakaway opportunity in the 27th minute. Union goalie Madison Hebert stopped an initial attempt by Jill De Waal, but was knocked down in the process, allowing Eik Hardardottir to clean up with a wide open look in front of the net.

Just over 10 minutes later, she scored again, juking around Hebert after taking in a Maggie Aird pass. In the second half, De Waal added a goal of her own before Elk Hardardottir got one last lick in, scoring on a penalty kick with just four seconds remaining.

Hebert had 12 saves for Union, which was out-shot 26-1. The Bulldogs (1-8, 1-5), return to action Saturday when they travel to Brenau (Ga.) for a 6 p.m. game.
