Union wins 55-48 on Senior Day against KCU

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College women's basketball team picked up a 55-48 Senior Day victory on Saturday over KCU. The Bulldogs led by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter.

Union was led in scoring by McKenzi Himes, who scored 17 points to go with 10 rebounds. Madison Brady registered 16 points, while being tied for the most rebounds by any player with 14.

Morgan Blakley tallied seven points, while Rachel Smith and Ja'Naia Moran each contributed six. Mylaiysha Norman and Haley Brock also scored for Union.

Before the game, the Bulldogs recognized seniors Morgan Blakley, Taylor Watson, Haley Brock, Ciara Uphoff, Madison Cox, and McKenzi Himes.

Union also recognized the family of Madison Taylor, a former Union women's basketball and track & field student-athlete who passed away at the age of 19. Madison would have been a senior this season.

The Bulldogs are now 8-20 (8-14 AAC) this season, while KCU is 5-23 (2-20 AAC).

With Union's win in addition to Pikeville's victory over Brenau today, the Bulldogs will be the No. 10 seed in the AAC Tournament. Union and Brenau finished the seasons with the same conference record, but the Bulldogs won the tiebreaker due to a victory over Montreat.

No. 10 seeded Union will face No. 7 Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 4:15 p.m. in Kingsport, Tenn.
