Brady and Smith have stellar performances as Union defeats Montreat 62-58

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College women's basketball team picked up a conference win on Tuesday night with a 62-58 victory over Montreat. The Bulldogs led throughout the entire fourth quarter.

Union's Madison Brady recorded an impressive 22-point, 13-rebound double-double. In each category, it's the most that's been registered by any Bulldog this season.

Brady also recorded the most made free throws by a Bulldog this season with eight, while tying the season high for blocks with two.

Rachel Smith tallied 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Smith was 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Her five assists are in a three-way tie for the most assists tallied by a Bulldog this season. Smith's five 3-pointers is tied for the most made 3-pointers by a Bulldog this season.

McKenzi Himes was Union's third-leading scorer with nine points. Ciara Uphoff, Morgan Blakley, Ja'Naia Moran, Madison Cox, and Mylaiysha Norman also scored for the Bulldogs. Union recorded 44 rebounds, 17 assists, and nine steals in the victory.

The Bulldogs are now 2-13 (2-7 AAC) this season, while Montreat is 7-7 (4-4 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Brenau on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 5:30 p.m.
