The Bulldogs fall 77-68 against Tennessee Wesleyan

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College women's basketball team hosted Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday, Dec. 6. The Bulldogs fell short in a valiant effort.

With 4:14 to play in the first quarter, a 3-pointer by Madison Cox gave Union an 18-14 lead. The Bulldogs trailed 26-21 at halftime. The Bulldogs scored 17 points in the second quarter, but trailed 44-38 at halftime.

The Bulldogs trailed by just three points with 4:49 to play in the third quarter following a two-point basket by Madison Brady. Tennessee Wesleyan would go on to lead by as many as 14 points en route to a 77-68 win.

Union was led in scoring by McKenzie Himes, who tallied 18 points off 8-of-12 shooting from the floor. Brady recorded 14 points off the bench, while going 7-of-9 from the floor. Madison Cox registered 11 points to go along with a team-leading five assists and a team-leading three steals.

Morgan Blakley was the Bulldogs' fourth-leading scorer with 10 points, while going 2-of-3 from 3-PT range. Ja'Naia Moran tallied nine points, while Ciara Uphoff and Haley Brock each recorded three. Union won the rebounding battle 37-25 as Brady led all players with nine rebounds. Union's FG% was 53.8%, while Tennessee Wesleyan's was 46.7%.

The Union Bulldogs are now 1-11 (1-7 AAC) this season, while Tennessee Wesleyan is 5-4 (3-4 AAC). Up next for Union is a matchup at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 5:30 p.m.
