The Bulldogs dominate the rebounding battle, but fall 65-52 at Montreat

Montreat, NC. – The Union College women's basketball team played at Montreat on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in a conference matchup.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by McKenzi Himes, who tallied 19 points. Himes also recorded nine rebounds, which was tied with teammate Morgan Blakley for the most by any player.

Union outrebounded the Cavaliers 44-26. The Bulldogs recorded 16 offensive rebounds, while Montreat tallied 15 defensive rebounds. Despite the rebounding differential, the Cavaliers led by as many as 17.

The second quarter was unideal for Union as the Bulldogs were outscored by 14, while Montreat would go on to win the game by 13 with a final score of 65-52.

Chiara Uphoff was Union's third-leading scorer with nine points off 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. Ja'Naia Moran contributed eight points and six rebounds. Blakley led all players in assists with five.

The Bulldogs are now 0-5 (0-3 AAC) this season, while Montreat is 3-3 (2-0 AAC). Up next for Union is a home conference game against Reinhardt on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 5:30 p.m.
