Linton caps career with double-double as WBB falls at TWU

ATHENS, Tenn. - Four players scored in double-figures, but it wasn't enough for the Union College women's basketball team, which fell 72-63 in its season finale against Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday.

The Bulldogs trailed 14-9 with 1:34 remaining in the first quarter, but tallied a 9-0 run to take an 18-14 lead with 7:25 to play in the opening half.

After four consecutive points for Tennessee Wesleyan, the Bulldogs went on an 8-2 run to lead 26-20 with 3:21 to go in the second quarter. Union led 27-24 at halftime.

Union was 3-of-6 from 3-point range in the third quarter, but trailed 47-42 going into the final quarter of play.

Union's McKenzi Himes scored nine points in the fourth quarter, while LeAsia Linton contributed eight for the Bulldogs, but it wasn't enough to get them over the hump.

Linton concluded her stellar Union career with an impressive double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds to go along with five steals. It was her fifth career double-double and she showcased her trademark tenacity until the very end, recording a steal then connecting with Gracie Jervis for a layup with six seconds to play.

Himes was Union's second-leading scorer with 17 points. Jervis scored 11 points off of three 3-pointers, while Raigan King recorded 11 points off 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.

The Bulldogs finish the season with a record of 4-24.
