BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College women's basketball team hosted Columbia International University on senior day Saturday afternoon.
Following a pregame celebration, LeAsia Linton, Union's only senior, had a productive game. Linton tallied nine points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and two steals, but the offense struggled to get going in a 62-41 loss.
Linton, a 1,000-point career scorer, had an emotional moment when leaving the Robsion Arena floor for the final time, when she embraced Bulldog assistant coach Brooke Hammonds, her teammate the previous four seasons.
At halftime, CIU (SC) held a 31-13 lead. In the third quarter, six players scored a combined 13 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Going into the fourth quarter, CIU led 47-26.
Gracie Jervis, who recorded five of Union's 13 steals in the game, scored a team-leading five points in the final quarter.
The Bulldogs are now 4-23 (4-19 AAC) this season, while CIU is 14-13 (13-10 AAC).
The Bulldogs, who've been mathmatically eliminated from AAC Tournament contention, close out their season next Saturday at Tennessee Wesleyan. That matchup is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
