Union falls to CIU in home doubleheader

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University softball team hosted Columbia International on Wednesday in a home conference doubleheader. The Bulldogs fell short in each game.

 

Game One:

The Bulldogs fell 9-2 in seven innings. Kaley Harris, Shaylin Lewis, Ryleigh Petrey, and Kaliana Pangallo each tallied one hit. Harris and Petrey each scored in the matchup for Union.

Katie Fister and Jeweleyette Lilley each pitched in the game for UCU. Fister allowed five hits and two earned runs in 5.0 innings pitched, while Lilley allowed four hits and two earned runs in 2.0 innings pitched.

 

Game Two:

Union fell short 6-1 in seven innings. Megan Meritt, Kinsley Redmon, Ashleigh McLeskey, and Ryleigh McLeskey each registered one hit.

Lily Marsh pitched the entire game for UCU. Marsh allowed four earned runs in 7.0 innings pitched.

 

The Bulldogs are now 8-30 (6-20 AAC) this season, while CIU is now 21-23 (14-14 AAC). Up next for UCU is a home conference doubleheader against Bluefield on Thursday, April 24, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
