Softball falls short in doubleheader against Milligan

The Union College softball team fell short in Monday's two-game series against Milligan. The Bulldogs fell 10-6 in the opening game and 6-4 in the second matchup.

Game One:

Union trailed 8-0 after the top of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the inning with two outs and the bases loaded, Ariel Dailey tallied a two-RBI single that scored Shelby Easton and Selina Tavarez.

On the ensuing at bat, Megan McGinley scored off an RBI single by Sarah Lowe. That was followed by a two-RBI single by Shaylin Lewis, which allowed Lowe and Kaylee Stuckey to score.

Union scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Milligan went on to win the game 10-6 in seven innings.

Game Two:

Easton hit a home run on the first at bat of the bottom of the third inning. The homer made the score 2-1 Milligan. Union took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Dailey scored off an RBI double by Easton, and Ashleigh McLeskey scored off an RBI single by McGinley.

Milligan scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Union tallied one in the bottom of the inning. The score was tied 4-4 going into the sixth inning, but Milligan picked up a 6-4 victory in seven innings.

The Bulldogs are now 5-10 (4-4 AAC) this season, while Milligan is 6-2 (2-2 AAC). Union plays at Lindsey Wilson on March 14 in the Bulldogs' next doubleheader.
