GRAYSON, Ky. – It was a tale of two games on Tuesday as Union College softball split its Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) doubleheader with host Kentucky Christian.
The Knights took the opener 3-0, but the Bulldogs rebounded with a 13-4 win in the finale.
With the split, Union is now 14-20 overall and 11-11 in conference play. Kentucky Christian now sits at 16-16 overall and 11-11 in the AAC.
GAME 1 – KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN 3, UNION 0
Union struggled to generate any offense as it was limited to three hits.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Kentucky Christian put together a three-run rally. The Knights lined five hits and took advantage of one walk in putting up the three runs.
The Bulldogs did not get their first hit until the top of the fifth when Sarah Lowe roped a double. However, she was left stranded at third. Union got a hit in the sixth and seventh but was unable to push a run across as Kentucky Christian collected the win.
Lowe finished the game 2-for-2, reaching base three times. Katy Redmon picked up Union's other base knock.
GAME 2 – UNION 13, KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN 4
The Bulldogs grabbed the early advantage and added nine runs during the final two innings in collecting the 13-4 win.
Union scored twice in the first and tacked on two more in the second for a 4-0 lead. Kentucky Christian came back with two in the second and one in the fourth to pull within 4-3.
The Bulldogs began to pull away with a six-run sixth. Union lined five hits and took advantage of a hit batter and an error as it stretched the margin to 10-3. The Knights posted a run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Bulldogs came back with three in the seventh to seal the 13-4 win.
Ariel Dailey went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Union returns home Friday to host Johnson (Tenn.) in another AAC doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
