Union men’s outdoor track and field places sixth at Landon Bond Classic

Berea, Ky. -  The Union Commonwealth University men's outdoor track and field team recently competed at the Landon Bond Classic. The Bulldogs placed sixth overall with a score of 71.5.

Track Events

Teddy Stills claimed first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.79 seconds. Also competing in the event were Santana Smith, Kamese Higgins, Ethan Combs, and Tyler Sturgil.

Stills delivered another strong performance in the 200 meters, finishing fourth with a time of 22.40. Higgins and Combs also competed in the race.

In the 400 meters, Isaiah Spears led the team with a time of 53.46, followed by Valor Pennington at 54.54 and Higgins at 58.92.

Jackson Crume competed in the 800 meters, clocking 2:11.46. He later joined Zabrey Bortz and Torrean Thornton in the 1500 meters, where Crume ran 4:33.50, Bortz posted 4:35.14, and Thornton finished in 4:39.50.

Conner Partin set the pace for the team in the 5000 meters, crossing the line in 17:44.70. Bortz and Thornton also competed in the event.

Preston Frost secured a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 57.24. Partin added a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:59.75.

The 4x100 relay team of Stills, Sturgill, Smith, and Hanna placed fourth, recording a time of 44.30.

Field Events

Gramone Hanna secured a third-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 43.00 meters, while Keenan Uhles also competed in the event.

In the hammer throw, Andon Mashburn recorded a mark of 30.53 meters, with Jacob Bryd following at 28.04 meters.

Cedric Irvin competed in discus, throwing 39.09 meters. Mashburn led the way in the shot put with a mark of 12.63 meters, joined by Bryd, Irvin, Jay Ateeb, Uhles, and Tim Freeman in the event.

Ateeb delivered a podium finish in the triple jump, placing third with a mark of 12.87 meters. In the high jump, Pennginton claimed second place with a 1.78-meter clearance, while Tyler Sturgill tied for fourth with a mark of 1.73 meters.
