Payton Ellison hails from Somerset, Kentucky, where he attended Somerset High School. He continued his academic and athletic journey at Union College, majoring in Exercise Science for his undergraduate studies. 

During his collegiate career, Payton achieved notable success both academically and athletically. He earned numerous accolades including three-time AAC Conference Runner-up, one-time AAC Conference Champion, and one-time National Qualifier. His performances also led him to hold records at Union College.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Payton maintained a strong academic record, earning a place on the Dean’s List three times during his undergraduate studies.
