UCU men's indoor track & field competes at IWU Midwest Classic

Marion, Ind. - The Union Commonwealth University men's indoor track and field team competed at the IWU Midwest Classic on Saturday. 

Jay Ateeb led the Bulldogs, winning the triple jump with a mark of 13.08 meters. In the 4000m distance medley relay, Conner Partin, Kamese Higgins, Zabrey Bortz, and Noah Hale finished fourth with a time of 11:52.60.

Jackson Crume competed in the 5000 meters, clocking a time of 16:32.03. The relay team of Partin, Bortz, Torrean Thornton, and Gianna Loska took on the 4x800-meter relay, finishing with a time of 9:24.86. 

Bortz posted a time of 2:51.67 in the 1000 meters, while Thornton completed the 800 meters in 2:13.69. Garomme Hanna and Ethan Combs sprinted in the 200 meters, recording times of 24.69 and 25.71, respectively. 

Hale competed in the 3000 meters, crossing the finish line in 10:54.49.The quartet of Alex Garcia, Preston Frost, Isaiah Spears, and Teddy Stills secured a seventh-place finish in the 4x400m relay, clocking in at 3:38.03.

Santana Smith and Valor Pennington finished back-to-back in the high jump, each clearing 1.83m. Smith secured eighth place, while Pennington followed in ninth. Also competing in the event, Tyler Sturgil posted a mark of 1.73m. 

In the weight throw, Jacob Bryd registered a mark of 10.91m, while Keenan Uhles recorded a throw of 10.37m. Byrd and Uhles also competed in the shot put alongside Cedric Irvin. Irvin led the group with a mark of 11.39m, followed by Byrd at 10.42m and Uhles at 9.86m. In the long jump, Kameron Cox recorded a leap of 5.58m.
