Ellison places first in high jump recording a season-high at the AAC Outdoor Championships

Columbia, SC. - The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team competed in the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships from April 18 through April 20. Overall, the Bulldogs placed 10th place with a total of 29 points.

Day One:

Garomme Hanna placed fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 47.04m. 

Day Two:

Within the decathlon, Joey Holloway placed seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 12.31. In the second event of the decathlon, he placed fourth with a mark of 5.46m in the high jump. He placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 9.30m.

In the fourth event of the decathlon, he placed third with a mark of 1.63m in the high jump. The final event of the decathlon on Friday was the 400 meters. He placed 10th by recording a time of 1:03.20.

Payton Ellison placed first in the high jump with a season high mark of 2.02m. With this first-place finish, Ellison has qualified for nationals.

Tyler Sturgil placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.81m. Alex Garcia, Conner Partin, Preston Frost, and Gianna Loska placed eighth in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:33.23.

In the 100 meters, Chris Thomas placed 17th with a time of 11.10. Garcia placed 21st in the 400 meter with a time of 52.64.

Day Three:

Continuing the decathlon, Holloway placed eighth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 22.05. In the seventh event, he placed first with a mark of 33.56m in discus. In the javelin throw, he placed sixth with a mark of 28m.

In the final event, Holloway placed eighth in the 1500 meters with a time of 6:33.64. Overall, he placed 10th in the decathlon with 3461 points.

Loska placed 21st in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:02.92. Chandler Mills competed in the 5000m race walk, and placed third with a time of 32:35.87.

Frost placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.95. In the 200m, Thomas placed 12th recording a time of 22.97. Partin placed 18th in the 3000m steeple with a time of 11:25.63.

Loska, Thomas, Garcia, and Frost competed in the 4x400m relay. They recorded a time of 3:36.67 to place in ninth place.
