Union men’s track and field recap from the Landon Bond Classic

Berea, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team competed in the Landon Bond Classic on Saturday.

For the second weekend in a row, Payton Ellison placed first in the high jump as he recorded a mark of 1.95m.

Chris Thomas competed in two events for the Bulldogs. In the 100m, he placed seventh with a time of 11.48. His highest finish was fifth in the 200m recording a time of 23.14.

Garomme Hanna competed in three events at today's meet. His highest finish came in the javelin throw where he placed third with a mark of 46.21m. Hanna placed 16th with a time of 11.76 in the 100m. In the 200m, he recorded a time of 24.00 to place him in 19th place.

Alex Garcia recorded a time of 51.98 in the 400m to place him in seventh place. Hunter Wethington also competed in the 400m as he placed 20th with a time of 57.94.

Joey Holloway competed in four solo events. In the 400m, he placed 22nd with a time of 1:03.76. He placed 26th in the discus throw with a mark of 33.41m.

In the javelin throw, he recorded a mark of 28.08m to place him in 19th place. Holloway also competed in the long jump, and placed 20th with a mark of 5.45.

Preston Frost competed in the 400m hurdles, and placed 12th recording a time of 1:05.97. Lucas Gibson competed in two solo events. He placed 35th in the discus throw with a mark of 28.57. He also competed in the shot put, and placed 23rd with a mark of 9.34m.

Tyler Sturgil placed 11th in the high jump by recording a mark of 1.75m. He also placed 14th in the javelin throw with a mark of 31.93.

Mark Prewitt competed in one solo event. He placed 11th in the javelin throw with a mark of 35.89m 

Travis Hensley placed 24th with a mark of 22.51m in the javelin throw. He placed 25th in the shot put with a mark of 8.34m.

Prewitt, Gibson, Hensley, and Holloway placed ninth in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 58.23.

 

Up next for the Bulldogs is the Gordon Bocock Cumberlands Invitational and Distance Carnival on Friday, April 12.
