Union’s Payton Ellison named AAC Field Athlete of the Week

Barbourville, Ky. - Union Commonwealth University track and field standout Payton Ellison has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Field Athlete of the Week. This is the first time this season that he has earned this honor.

Ellison placed first this past weekend in the high jump at the Centre Invitational. He recorded a mark of 1.95m. It was his second first-place finish in the high jump this outdoor season as he previously registered a mark of 1.97m in the Mountaineer Open.

He also placed first in the high jump during the AAC Championship for the indoor season with a mark of 1.96m.

Ellison currently holds the school record for high jump with a mark of 2.04m. He set that record in 2022.
