Union men’s track and field competes in Titan Open

Bloomington, Ill. - The Union College men's track and field team competed in the Titan Open hosted by Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday.

Leading the charge was Payton Ellison, who had a second-place finish in the high jump with a season-best clearance of 1.98m.

In the shot put event, Bronson Bates secured 12th place while achieving a personal record throw of 12.89m. Lucas Gibson had a throw of 9.21m, which earned him the 32nd spot.

In the sprint events, Chris Thomas clocked in at 7.43 seconds to secure the 27th position in the 60m. Thomas also competed in the 200m, and finished in 31st place with a time of 24.29 seconds.

Preston Frost and Alex Garcia competed in the 800m race. Frost crossed the finish line in 2:09.75 to claim the 29th spot, while Garcia secured 33rd place to set a new personal record with a time of 2:12.03.

Up next for the Union men's track and field team is the AAC Championships on Thursday, Feb. 15.
