Lincoln brings 'A' game in second-place Electric City finish

ANDERSON, S.C. - Looking to become just the second six-time All-American in Union track and field history, Myles Lincoln improved his chances of achieving that goal on Friday.

Having already qualified for NAIA Outdoor Nationals in triple jump on his first jump of the year, Lincoln hit the qualifying 'A' standard with a season-best distance of 15.00 meters, which was good enough for second place on the opening day of the Electric City Invitational in Anderson, S.C.

Lincoln scored all eight of the Bulldogs' points on the opening day, putting them in a seventh-place tie in the 14-team field. The Union women are currently in 10th place with three points.

Lincoln hit his high mark on the first jump of the day, holding first place for an extended period before Rajaun Ricketts of Benedict (S.C.) surpassed him with a leap of 15.11. He'd previously qualified for the national 'B' standard, missing the 'A' distance of 14.25 by just .02 meters at the Montevallo Falcon Classic last month.

And with Appalachian Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships just a week away, Lincoln got a momentum boost against arguably his biggest AAC challenger, as he came in ahead of third-place Dustin Blevins of Montreat, who jumped 14.34 meters. Between indoor and outdoor seasons, Lincoln and Blevins have both won two conference triple jump championships since 2021.

Triple jump also produced the scoring on the women's side. Teychiana Dornan had the best distance of her career, finishing in sixth place at 11.09 meters.

The second and final day of the Electric City Invitational will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. To view live results, click here.
