Women's tennis improves to 2-0, men fall at LMU

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Union College tennis teams competed at Lincoln Memorial University on Friday, Feb. 17. The No. 16 Union women's team won 5-2, while the No. 13 Union men's team fell 6-1.

WOMEN

Despite only having two teams competing, Union took the double's point as Rin Igarashi and Karen Kondo won 7-6, while Mai Kitashita and Liliana Drukerova won 6-4.

In singles competition, Igarashi (6-1, 6-2), Drukerova (6-3, 6-1) Kondo (6-3, 6-2); and Kitashita (6-4, 6-1) all earned victories to help the Bulldogs improve to 2-0 on the young season.

MEN

Union picked up a win in doubles competition when Harry Jordan and Joao Cardoso won 7-5. However, LMU won the two other matches to win the double's point.

In singles competition, Jordan also got Union's only win in singles play with a pair of 6-2 victories.

The Union tennis teams are scheduled to play in Harrogate, Tenn. against Carson-Newman on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
