
Union men's swimming claims 14 first-place finishes in victory over Midway
Versailles, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's swimming team competed against Midway University on Friday.
The Bulldogs defeated the Eagles 189- 49. They also secured 14 first-place finishes.
Zsombi Sipaki, Dmitrii Bulakh, Lancelot Gavelle, and Toby Edwards took first place in the 200-yard medley relay.
Abel Eszenyi took first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:38.54, followed by Gergely Török in second. Malik Biad won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.85.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Sipaki finished first with a time of 52.72, with David Muñiz Espin coming in second.
Jaedon Lynch took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.95, and Eszenyi finished second. Biad won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.92, with Török coming in second.
In the 50 freestyle, Enzo Constable claimed first place with a time of 20.58, while Edwards followed closely behind to secure second place.
Constable earned another victory in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 45.88. Mateo Daza also took second place in the same event.
Sipaki claimed first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.58, followed closely by Eszenyi, who also secured first in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:10.72. Lynch also finished in second place.
Török won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.26. Constable took first in the 100-yard butterfly at 49.68, while Biad finished second. Lynch won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:02.31, with Cezary Leiman finishing second.
The relay team of Lynch, Leiman, Muñiz Espin, and Constable secured first place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:29.11, while the team of Daza, Eszenyi, Török, and Biad finished in second.
Next up for Union men's swimming is the AAC Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
