Union men's swimming secures win over Asbury

Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's swimming and diving team competed against Asbury on Friday. The Bulldogs defeated the Eagles 124-26.

Union claimed ten first-place finishes, six second-place, and four third-place spots in the meet.

The 200 medley relay team of David Muñiz Espin, Dmitrii Bulakh, Enzo Constable, and Cezary Leiman secured first place with a time of 1:35.00. 

Abel Eszenyi and Gergely Török swept the top two spots in the 200 free. Eszenyi clocked a winning time of 1:46.63 and Török was close behind at 1:51.16. 

In the 50 free, the Bulldogs achieved another 1-2 finish, with Constable touching first at 20.65 and Toby Edwards following in second at 23.19.

Malik Biad and Jaedon Lynch delivered a back-to-back performance in the 200 IM. Biad captured first place in 1:58.00 and Lynch followed close behind in second at 2:06.77. Biad and teammate Török added another one-two punch for the Bulldogs in the 200, where Biad finished first with a time of 1:58.06 and Török secured second in 2:07.74. 

In the 100 freestyle, Constable took first place with a swift 44.54. In the  200 backstroke, Espin claimed the top spot with a time of 2:07.73. 

In the 500 freestyle, Eszenyi and Biad earned first and second. Eszenyi clocked in at 4:45.77 and Biad finished at 4:49.30.

Lynch and Bulakh took the top two spots in the 200 breaststroke. Lynch finished first at 2:15.00 and Bulakh second at 2:16.13. In the 200 free relay, Gavelle, Edwards, Lynch, and Espin secured the Bulldogs' final first-place finish with a time of 1:30.55.


Next up for Union men's swimming and diving is a home meet against Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1:00 p.m.
