Union men’s swimming defeats Shawnee State 

Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's swimming and diving team faced off against Centre and Shawnee State on Saturday. The Bulldogs secured a 185-64 victory over Shawnee State but narrowly fell to Centre in a tight contest, 149-143. 

UCU claimed 10 first-place finishes, seven second-place, and three third-place finishes. 

The team of Zsombi Sipaki, Dmitrii Bulakh, Cezary Leiman, and Enzo Constable opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay. They clocked in at 3:29.30.

 Abel Eszenyi took second in the 1000 freestyle, posting a time of 9:43.87, while Constable and Malik Biad secured the top two spots in the 200 free. Constable touched the wall first at 1:42.18, with Biad close behind at 1:45.93. 

Sipaki continued UCU's momentum with a victory in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 53.34. Eszenyi and Bulakh dominated the 100 breaststroke, taking first (58.99) and second (59.00) respectively. 

In the 200 butterfly, Biad claimed first with a time of 1:58.20, and Leiman followed with a win in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 22.12. Constable added another first-place finish to his day in the 100 free. He swam a 45.34. 

Sipaki earned second place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.72. Bulakh and Jaedon Lynch swept the top two spots in the 200 breaststroke, with Bulakh taking first (2:12.54) and Lynch second (2:13.41).

Eszenyi finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:45.80, while Constable grabbed another first in the 100 butterfly. He clocked in at 50.05.

In the 400 IM, Luke O'Mara finished second in 4:32.79, and the team of Biad, Eszenyi, Leiman, and Gergely Török capped off the meet with a first-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, posting a time of 7:18.02.
