Union men’s swimming goes 2-0 on the weekend

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College men's swimming and diving team faced Asbury and Shawnee State. The Bulldogs defeated Asbury 128-37 and won 136-88 over Shawnee State.

 

Against Asbury:

Union won the Men's 400 Yard Medley Relay as the team of Zsombi Sipaki, Dmitrii Bulakh, Mikita Filipovich, and Gabi Icobescu recorded a final time of 3:33.22.

Filipovich won the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 1:52.41, while Will Webb was second with a time of 1:59.16.

Union took first, second, and third in the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle as Icobescu was first with a final time of 21.73, while Jaedon Lynch was second with a time of 22.43 and Sipaki was third with a time of 22.57.

Zach Nepogoda won the 200 Yard Butterfly with a final time of 2:01.33. Icobescu won the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle. Zsombi won the Men's 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:04.75, while David Muniz Espin placed second.

Bulakh recorded a final time of 2:16.98 in the Men's 200 Yard Breaststroke for a first-place finish. Union won the Men's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as the team of Webb, Muniz Espin, Lynch, and Luke Colebank recorded a final time of 3:22.30. The Bulldogs won 128-37. Against Shawnee State:

Nepogoda placed first in the Men's 800 SC Meter Freestyle. Icobescu won the Men's 200 SC Meter Freestyle with a final time of 1:58.31. Icobescu also placed first in the Men's 100 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 53.15.

Sipaki won the Men's 100 SC Meter Backstroke with a final time of 59.33. Sipaki also won the Men's SC Meter Freestyle with a final time of 4:40.87.

Bulakh won the Men's 100 SC Meter Breaststroke with a final time of 1:06.59. Luke Colebank won the Men's 50 SC Meter Freestyle with a final time of 25.79.

Filipovich placed first in the Men's 200 SC Meter Backstroke with a final time of 2:21.27. Webb won the Men's 200 SC Meter IM with a final time of 2:28.28. Union placed first and second in the SC Meter Medlay Relay. The Bulldogs won the meet 136-88. For the full results, click here.
