Union Men’s Soccer Earns 10th Shutout with Win at Tennessee Wesleyan

ATHENS, Tenn. - Union Commonwealth University's men's soccer team (9-2-3, 8-0-2 AAC) defeated Tennessee Wesleyan (6-6, 5-3 AAC)Wednesday at TWU Athletic Complex, 1-0.

Union wasted no time taking control, as Ron-Jay Watson scored just three minutes into the match — his second goal of the season and the eventual game-winner.

Both teams recorded four shots in the first half, but Tennessee Wesleyan was held scoreless by Union's disciplined defense, which has been a consistent force all season.

Second Half: Union Commonwealth 1, Tennessee Wesleyan 0

The scoreline held steady through the second half as the Bulldogs' back line continued to deny scoring opportunities. Union finished with five shots compared to Tennessee Wesleyan's seven, with both sides placing two on goal.

Gianni Loska led the Bulldogs with two shots, while Watson, Oriol Gásquez Pérez, and Akim Soulemana each added one.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza made two saves in the win, earning his ninth shutout of the season. The clean sheet also marked Union's 10th as a team, putting both Mendoza and the Bulldogs close to a program record for shutouts in a single season.
