Union Secures Fourth Shutout With Win against Truett McConnell

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union Commonwealth University's men's soccer team (4-2-1, 3-0-1 AAC) defeated Truett McConnell (5-3-0, 3-1-0 AAC) 1-0 Saturday evening at Williamson Stadium, extending their winning streak to three games.

GAME RECAP

FIRST HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 0, TMU 0

The Bulldogs generated three quality chances in the first half, including a pair of dangerous headers, but were unable to convert. On the other end, Union's back line held firm, keeping the Bears scoreless through the opening 45 minutes.

SECOND HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 1, TMU 0

Early in the second half, after back-to-back shots were blocked, Laurin Fürmeier pounced on the rebound and delivered the match-winner for the Bulldogs. It marked his third goal of the season, moving him into the team lead.

Union's defense held firm the rest of the way, securing another clean sheet behind goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza. The Bulldogs have now posted four shutouts this season.

Union outshot Truett 11-5, including a 3-0 advantage in shots on goal. Jordan Blake, Takuma Kiuchi and Fürmeier each recorded two shots, while Ivan Macias Rodriguez, Gianni Loska, Matias Trettel, Rocco Cimino and George Goulingay added one apiece.
