KNOXVILLE, TENN. - Union Commonwealth University's men's soccer team (3-2-1, 2-0-1 AAC) defeated Johnson(1-5-0, 0-3-0 AAC) 1-0 Wednesday night in a conference matchup at Johnson.
GAME RECAP
FIRST HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 1, JOHNSON 0
The Bulldogs struck first in the 20th minute as Zak Hardman netted his first goal of the season off an assist from Jordan Blake. Union's defense held strong in the opening half, limiting the Royals to two shots and keeping them scoreless.
SECOND HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 1, JOHNSON 0
Union was held scoreless in the second half but kept Johnson off the board to secure its third shutout of the season. The Bulldogs dominated offensively, outshooting the Royals 26-3 and finishing with 10 shots on goal while Johnson failed to record one.
Ron-Jay Watson led Union with seven shots, while Hardman added five. Oriol Gásquez Pérez tallied three, and Blake, Gianni Loska, Titus Craig and Rocco Cimino each registered two. Patrick Taylor, Laurin Fürmeier and George Goulingay contributed one apiece. Goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza collected his third shutout of the season.
