Union men’s soccer receives numerous AAC Awards

Barbourville, Ky. – The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) released its 2023-24 All-Conference Team and Awards on Tuesday. Union had three players named First-Team All-AAC, two players named Second-Team All-AAC. The Bulldogs also received four awards.

Callum Edwards, Asuka Kaneda, and Callum Longworth were named First-Team All-AAC. William Fox and Diogo Costa were named Second-Team All-AAC.

Edwards was also named Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and received the Golden Boot award. Union's Jonathan Shaw and Milligan's Patrick Sweeney were named Co-Coaches of the Year.

Edwards has tallied 23 goals this season, which ranks first in the AAC and second in the NAIA. Kaneda is tied for seventh in the conference in goals scored this season with 10. Kaneda has nine assists this season, which is tied for second place in the AAC with Union's Biel Vallverdu.

Longworth has registered eight assists on the season, which ranks fourth in the conference. Fox has scored nine goals this season, which puts him in a tied for ninth place in the AAC. Costa has had a stellar season for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs had 13 players named to the All-Academic Team: Harrison Clayden, Diogo Costa, Eduardo Forte, Owen Lewis, Sajid Mohammed, Mattheos Ribeiro, Carlos Sainz, Jamie Seago, Joao Seguttir, Marcos da Silva, Adam Smallwood, Biel Vallverdu, Andre Viegas.
