Union men’s soccer advances to 6-0 on the season with a 5-2 victory over St. Andrews

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College men's soccer team hosted St. Andrews on Saturday, Sept. 16. The Bulldogs picked up a 5-2 victory. The five goals scored by Union marks the second-most goals the Bulldogs have scored in one game this season.

For the fourth time this season, Union's Callum Edwards scored at least two goals in one game. The opening goal on Saturday was scored by Edwards within the first six minutes of the matchup.

Approximately 10 minutes later, William Fox scored off an assist by Asuka Kaneda to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Union led 3-0 at halftime as Edwards scored his second goal off Kaneda's second assist of the half.

In the second half, Fox scored his second goal of the game within the opening three minutes. That goal was assisted by Biel Vallverdu. Union led 4-0.

Following a goal by St. Andrews, Union's Callum Longworth scored a goal off an assist by Augusto Salomao. Around the midway point of the second half; heavy rain began to pour. The Bulldogs won the matchup 5-2.

Union is now 6-0 (2-0 AAC) this season, while St. Andrews is 2-2 (1-1 AAC). Up next for the Bulldogs is a conference matchup at Johnson (Tenn.) on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
