Bio

Russell Sisson serves as the Golf Coach and Professor of Religion at Union Commonwealth University. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Sisson graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1977 before continuing his education at Rhodes College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1981 and competed on the Rhodes College Golf Team (NCAA Division III) from 1977 to 1981. He later completed his Master of Divinity at Yale University in 1984 and earned his Ph.D. from Emory University in 1994.

Sisson’s coaching career includes two stints leading Union’s golf program, first from 1999 to 2002 and again from 2022 to the present. 

Away from campus, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Lori, and their son, Max. His hobbies include golf, cycling, and hiking.
