Russell Sisson took over as the head coach of the Union College men's and women's golf team prior to the 2022-23 season. His first year saw the men's program earn its first medalist (Kedric Chaney) performance since 2019, and the women's program get its first (Whitney Messer) since 2021.

Sisson was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn., where he graduated from Christian Brothers High School and Rhodes College (B.A). He played college golf at Rhodes. After college he earned graduate degrees at Yale (M. Div.) and Emory (Ph.D.). Dr. Sisson has been a professor at Union College since 1997. He previously coached the men’s golf team in 2000-2002.
