Chaney ties for top score on day 2 of Chattahoochee Golf Collegiate

GAINESVILLE, Ga - Having already proven himself quite adept at second-day surges in the first match of the spring season, Kedric Chaney took his improvements to another level in match two.

Competing with the Union men's golf team, Chaney shot a 77 (+3), which tied him for the best score of the round on day two of the Chattahoochee Collegiate Tournament, which wrapped on Tuesday. Chaney finished in a tie for 23rd-place overall with a two-day score of 167.

After coming in 38th with an opening-day 90, Chaney was much sharper on the second day, braving cold temperatures and steady, 10-15 MPH winds to tie Kenny Duffin of Covenant College for Tuesday's top score.

Chaney got to close the tournament out in style, recording his second birdie of the day on the final hole. He even finished the round one stroke better than the tournament medalist, Dillon Hite of Columbia College, who recorded a total score of 151.

Competing for the women, Whitney Messer had a two-day score of 173, topping out with an 82 on Monday. She finished tied for 22nd overall.

The Bulldogs didn't have enough competitors to record a team score on either the men's or women's side. Both teams will return to action for the Alice Lloyd Invitational on March 25 and 26.
