Union closes the game with 17-1 run to win 78-77 at KCU

Grayson, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University men's basketball team overcame a 23-point deficit to win 78-77 at Kentucky Christian on Wednesday.

Union trailed 76-61 with just over three minutes remaining in the second half, but a 17-1 run resulted in the UCU victory.

Sam Conley led Union in scoring with 28 points, while going 10-of-18 from the floor. Conley's 28 points are the most by a Bulldog in one game this season.

Ben Underwood tallied 13 points, while Dallas Rufus and Allister Dixon each registered nine. Kenton Wright, Jabari Covington, Micah Engle, Kaleb McLendon, and Kenny Garth also scored for the Bulldogs.

Dixon and Underwood each tallied a game-leading seven rebounds, while Engle registered six. Covington led UCU in assists with four. Conley, Covington, and Rufus were three of four players that registered a game-leading three steals.

The Bulldogs are now 9-12 (5-10 AAC) this season, while KCU is 3-19 (3-11 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Reinhardt on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 4:00 p.m.
