Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University men's basketball team hosted IU Columbus on Tuesday. UCU won 92-64 in its first game of the 2024-25 regular season. The Bulldogs had five players score in double figures.
Luca Stubel led Union in scoring with 13 points, while Kaleb Hedgepeth and Jeremiah Stroman each tallied 12. Micah Engle totaled 11 points, while Sam Parrish recorded 10.
Sam Conley tallied nine points, while Allister Dixon totaled eight. Ben Underwood scored six points, while Kenton Wright, Kenny Garth, and Brian Gilmore Jr. combined to score 11.
Allister totaled nine rebounds, which was tied for the most by any player. Hedgepeth recorded eight rebounds, while Underwood contributed seven. The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 49-27. Underwood also tallied four assists, which was tied for the most by any player.
The Bulldogs are now 1-0 this season, while IU Columbus is 0-4. Up next for UCU is a road game against No. 18 Cumberlands on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 3:00 p.m.
