Union defeats KCU to win AAC regular season title outright and secure spot in NAIA Tournament

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College men's basketball team picked up an 86-70 win over Kentucky Christian on Senior Day for the Bulldogs. The victory also secured Union with the AAC regular season title outright and a berth in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

The Bulldogs trailed by six points at halftime, but scored 52 points in the second half en route to the 16-point win.

Union's Terrin Hamilton tallied 30 points and 10 rebounds, which led all players in each category. Markelo Sullivan registered 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Will Bailey and Anton Mozga each scored eight points, while Jay Falls and Deonte Douglas each recorded four points. Kaleb McLendon, Omari Glover, and Sam Conley also scored for the Bulldogs.

Prior to the game, Senior Day festivities and special presentations were held. Union senior cheerleaders Kaitlyn Mestemaker, Cassidy Pennington, and Sydney Miracle were recognized. Following that, the Union College men's basketball program made two special presentations.

The first was for Hamilton surpassing the 1,000-point club earlier this season, while the second was for Turner setting the school record for 3-pointers made in a career with three 3's on Feb. 10 against Truett McConnell.

Following those presentations, Union MBB recognized seniors Jordan White, Jahloni Mitchell, Will Bailey, Anton Mozga, Markelo Sullivan, Deonte Douglas, Jay Falls, and Markelle Turner.

Union concludes the regular season 22-6 (21-3 AAC), while KCU is 6-22 (4-20 AAC). The Bulldogs will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming AAC Tournament.

No. 1 seeded Union will play on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 10:15 a.m. against the winner of the matchup between No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan and No. 9 Montreat.
