Union overcomes 16-point deficit to win 76-69 over Tennessee Wesleyan

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College men's basketball team overcame a 16-point deficit against Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

Union registered a 19-0 run early in the second half to take the lead. While the score would eventually be tied, Union never trailed from that point on en route to a 76-69 win.

Markelle Turner led all scorers with 19 points, while going 4-of-9 from 3-point range for Union. Turner made two 3's within a minute of each other early in the second half to trim Union's deficit from nine to three.

Deonte Douglas registered 15 points, while Sam Conley tallied 14 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Terrin Hamilton was one of four Union Bulldogs to score in double figures as he registered 10 points.

Markelo Sullivan, Anton Mozga, Jay Falls, and Will Bailey contribute the other 19 points for Union. The Orange and Black won the rebounding battle 45-35 as Jay Falls led all players with 11, while Sullivan recorded nine. Sullivan led Union in assists with four.

Union is now 7-4 (6-2 AAC) this season, while Tennessee Wesleyan is 3-6 (3-5 AAC). Up next for Union is a home conference game against Columbia International on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 4:00 p.m.
