The Bulldogs dominate the rebounding battle as Union defeats Reinhardt 94-88 in OT

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College men's basketball hosted Reinhardt on Thursday, Nov. 16, in a home conference matchup.

The Bulldogs were without Markelle Turner and Jay Falls against the Eagles. In addition to that, the reigning AAC POTW Markelo Sullivan fouled out with 1:52 remaining in regulation.

A 3-pointer by Reinhardt's Nate Louis with 10 seconds remaining in regulation forced overtime as the Bulldogs missed a shot at the buzzer. The score was 76-76 at the end of the second half. Reinhardt scored first in OT, but the Bulldogs tallied 18 points to win the game 94-88 in OT.

The Bulldogs registered 26 offensive rebounds, while the Eagles tallied 28 total rebounds. Union finished with a total of 55 rebounds.

Deonte Douglas led Union in scoring with 23 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Sullivan recorded 22 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Will Bailey contributed 21 points off 10-of-17 shooting to go along with six rebounds.

Union's Sam Conley scored 13 points off 5-of-7 shooting from the floor to go with five rebounds. The Bulldogs were led in rebounding by Anton Mozga, who tallied 11 in addition to six points.

Terrin Hamilton registered six points and nine rebounds, while Jahloni Mitchell and Cam Bartmann also scored for Union.

The Bulldogs advance to 4-1 (4-0 AAC) this season, while Reinhardt is now 1-3 (1-2 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Truett McConnell on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 4:00 p.m.
