Bulldogs rout Knights, move to 10-0 in the AAC

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Twenty-four days of rest didn't seem to create much rust for the Union men's basketball team, which returned to the floor in dominant fashion Tuesday.

Six players scored in double figures and the 12th-ranked Bulldogs moved to 10-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference action with an emphatic 108-70 beatdown of St. Andrews at Robsion Arena, their first game since Dec. 10.

Fresh off a dominant performance in his Union debut, Markelo Sullivan was sharp again in his second game, setting the tone with a 13-point, five-rebound first-half. Sullivan and teammate Terrin Hamilton led all scorers with 19 for the game.

Starters Markelle Turner (15), Israel Farrington (12) and Will Bailey (10) were also in double figurers, as was Deonte Douglas, who scored 13 points off the bench.

Bailey also led all players with nine rebounds and recorded the game's biggest highlight, when Douglas floated a pass off the glass directly into the arms of a charging Bailey, who threw down a monster jam. Union finished the game with a 51-32 rebounding advantage.

The defense was also sharp, forcing 25 turnovers, which led to 41 points. The Bulldogs had 16 steals as a team, with Anton Mozga recording a game-best five.

Now 12-1, the Bulldogs continue to tighten their hold on the AAC, having won 23 straight games against league opponents dating back to last season. They look to keep rolling on Tuesday in a 7:30 p.m. road game against Reinhardt.
